Cyclone Sidr
11.20.07 (9:48 am) [edit]There is a killer walking tall in Bangaladesh.It's name is Cyclone Sidr.Sidr has managed to create a valley of death out of the already impoverished country:2500 lives have already been claimed and the number is still rising.Sidr has left an effect of a deficit in food,drinking water and medicine supplies .There are no coffins to bury the dead with such that grieving families are "begging" for clothes to bury the dead with.I know I sound pretty boring and seroius nowadays.I'm sorry.Bear with me.Why am I writing this ?But imagine this someone being trapped in an island with no hope that he could survive to see the tommorrow that some one like me takes oh-so lightly .Because of this killer.We can't afford to be ignorant today of the world's problem ,even from a far.Watch and read the media.Say a prayer.

11.19.07 (12:02 am) [edit]Most developing contries have the misfortune of being financially desperate.It's caused by the domestic droughts,political strifes,or a low currency.The resultant causes them to rush to the arms of the two most powerful monetary institutions in search of loans.They offer this help,using the carrot approach-"we'll only do so on one condition:they implement structural adjustment programs".SAPs have the disadvantage of negatively affecting the most vulnerable members of the society.For example,the pregnant women lose their children because they lack maternal care while givng birth,children drop out of school cause they lack fees, small scale farmers don't make profits because the cost of production is too high.Yet the World Bank and IMF think that by doing this,developing countries wil ease of their international debts and balance the internal budget.How wrong they are!

One Of Those Days.....part 2
11.16.07 (9:09 am) [edit]So.....I noticed one of ladies I was with went over to another table.Nothing wrong with that.However---her behaviour while not being overtly bd wsa disturbing.Well ,she seemed to be more than flirting with the man.What disturbed me even more wsa that Mary was a happily married woman with 2 kids and quite a comfortable life.She is one of my best friends-I use her as a model of what I aspire to be as a future wife!But what was she doing letting another man touch her intimately like that?Maybe I am being paranoid or what ?Is this normal, or even fair to her family?
